Meet the Dogs
Bella is a playful, sweet one-year-old adopted from JACO and will be a permanent resident of the Sanctuary. Her early chaotic life placed her in a non-adoptable category, but Bella is adapting to her new home and a most welcome addition to the farm.
Shasta is a Healer-Basenji rescue that is a friendly, enthusiastic 2 ½ year old medium-sized dog with a sweet disposition. After staying at a shelter for eight months, Shasta is adjusting wonderfully to her new accommodations while she waits for adoption.
Little Girl is an older dachshund who was abandoned at the Grants Pass Humane Society and tested positive for heartworm. Being blind and deaf hasn’t diminished Little Girl’s incredible zeal for life. She will have a permanent home at the farm.
Meet the Horses
Larry is an adorable ten-year-old miniature horse who was used for testing in a research lab for most of his life. He was extremely skittish and wary of humans when he first arrived, but is slowly building trust as he settles in to his new permanent home at the farm.
Chance is a ten-year-old Pinto gelding that came from Strawberry Mountain Mustangs. He was gathered from the Bureau of Land Management’s Monte Cristo herd in Nevada, and experienced several years of abuse, neglect, and frequent re-locations. Since arriving at the Sanctuary, he has settled considerably, is becoming less spooky, easier to catch and work with, and will be adoptable soon.

Cajun |
Cajun is a ten-year-old paint/pinto gelding that was seized several years ago from an alleged horse breeder. When officials arrived at the property, they found dead and lame horses. Cajun exhibited obvious signs of abuse, and has a large scar on his face, but is a very handsome horse. He is still somewhat head shy and nervous, particularly around new sounds and humans, but can be haltered and led easily, indicating that he is beginning to feel safe. We anticipate he will be with us for quite some time.
Duke(AKA Torchy) and Hondo - 10-month-old Stud colts Duke and Hondo began their lives in a slaughter house feed lot, where they were purchased by a rescue group.

The one-month-old colts were taken to Whispering Winds Equine Rescue in Roseburg, Oregon. They settled in to the Sanctuary quickly, and are becoming socialized, learning manners, and picking up weight. Duke and Hondo have been wormed, dusted for lice, given all their shots, and will be gelded as soon as they are old enough.
An Appaloosa, who was part of a joint rescue operation from a breeder, came to the Oregon Animal Sanctuary infested with lice and worms, weighing in at meager 400 lbs. The two year old stud, had never been handled, and was extremely wary of humans when he first arrived. He's coming around to shoulder, neck, and back rubs and it's been rumored that he enjoys the occasional carrot.

Teddy is a 13-year-old gelding pony who spent the past decade at Emerald Valley Equine rescue. He is a very sweet guy that loves everyone he meets, on two legs or four, and has become the self-appointed “companion” animal for newer equines.
Jacob is a 27-year-old Arab gelding that arrived as the result of a joint rescue effort with the Klamath Falls Humane Society and the Equimore foundation in the Rogue Valley. He will be on a weight gain regimen for a few months, and should make a good pasture pal.
Luke (aka Lucky, a jinx name for an animal) is a 25-year-old Paint gelding with carcinoma skin cancer that was left untreated for many years. He was an owner surrender that came to us from Siskiyou County Animal Control. We have begun a veterinarian-supervised treatment protocol for Luke, and he is making slow, but steady, improvement.
Drifter is an 18-year-old appendix gelding surrendered to Jackson County Animal Control Officer Andy Lane. When Drifter arrived, he was underweight, and his hooves, teeth, and coat were in poor condition as the result of long-term neglect. He is a big love and is recovering beautifully.
Apollo is an 8-year-old 17.2 hand thoroughbred gelding that came in from the same home as Drifter, with many of the same health problems. We are working with him to resolve behavioral and aggression issues with people and other animals.
Meet the Others
Rascal is a two month old rabbit who loves to explore. He is very adorable and handles well. Rascal doesn’t seem too concerned about the other animals, just grateful he was rescued from being pit bull bait.
Billy and Bob are goats whose original owners lost their home and couldn’t keep them. They are a bonded pair and will be placed in a loving home together.
